Join us at Leon for an evening of music with Breathe Owl Breathe and Austin Miller
In support of their new album, Passage of Pegasus, Michigan based Breathe Owl Breathe travels West to Leon's doorstep to bring you a wild rumpus of harmony and rhythm. To compliment this trio of troubadours, Leon invites you to witness Austin Miller, a folk dynamite from Orlando, Florida whose expertise in lyrics and guitar melodies far outweigh his youthful stature as an emerging musician.
About Breathe Owl Breathe:
Comprised of Micah Middaugh (guitar, vocals), Andréa Moreno-Beals (cello, vocals) and Trevor Hobbs (percussion), the Michigan trio Breathe Owl Breathe have a knack for wrapping universal emotions in childlike language.
Passage of Pegasus, Breathe Owl Breathe’s 6th full length album and follow up to 2010’s Magic Central, is an expression of solitary journeying translated through the many characters of front man and lyricist Micah Middaugh’s distinctive folklore… Traveling light, but deep in song.
Passage of Pegasus was recorded with some of the bands favorite musical collaborators- Produced by Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats, the Shins), with musical accompaniment from Jim Becker (Califone, Iron &Wine), Michael Hurley, Victoria Williams, and Kyle Field (Little Wings).
Passage of Pegasus looks and feels as handmade as possible – each album cover is a unique, individually numbered piece of art, pressed with handset type and copper-block images crafted by Micah at his print making studio Cavern Lantern Wonder Welding. Two other Michigan printing luminaries, Chad Pastonik of Deep Wood Press and George Wietor of Issue Press, both oriented toward different printmaking aesthetics, also lent their hands to bring Micah’s artistic perspective to fruition.
About Austin Miller:
Austin Miller isn't your typical “cabin in the woods” singer-songwriter. As a Floridian, the palm trees and blistering heat are his home. But this Orlando native's laid back and rustic narratives take you far from the beaches. Tales of young hearts and world-weary souls come to life in his songs. Austin has spent the better part of the last three years on the road, playing everywhere from small town dive bars, to The House of Blues Chicago, and everything in between. His self-released albums have earned praise from the Orlando Sentinel, Suburban Apologist, and Mind Equals Blown, among others. "More Than One Way" is an album featuring 10 of his newest songs, released in June 2013, described as "Lush as a full moon on the horizon line.
