The Gathering Place + Art Restart
Pop-Up Exhibition to support women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty
Exhibition: June 13th - June 22nd
Opening Reception: June 13th 5-9pm
Leon Gallery is teaming up with Art Restart, a social enterprise of The Gathering Place to host a pop-up exhibition. The Gathering Place + Art Restart provides Denver women experiencing poverty with the materials and safe space needed to create art. Art Restart then reproduces artworks on a variety of products, and the sale provides each artist with royalty checks and a path to self sufficiency. These women will be working with instructors at Arts Student League of Denver to create paintings and drawings over a 9 week course.
Founded in 1986, The Gathering Place is the only daytime drop-in center in metropolitan Denver that serves women, their children, and transgender individuals who are experiencing poverty, many of whom are also experiencing homelessness. While we refer to those we serve as "members", no fees are ever charged for programs or services.
We believe deeply in the power of our community and continually work to make it stronger. Our key values include recognizing individual strengths, building respect and trust, and offering unconditional acceptance.
